The Nile riparian states organized a regional forum which brought together key stakeholders and friends of the Nile attended this year's 5th Nile Basin Development Forum (NBDF) that took place October 23 - 25, 2017, at the Radisson Blu Hotel & Convention Center, Kigali.

This year the theme for World Food Day, celebrated annually on 16 October – a date commemorating the founding of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations in 1945

The PREPARED Project, NWSC and UCSD Launch WACOCO Clubs amidst Jubilation
On the 6th September 2017, Planning for Resilience through Policy, Adaptation, Research and Economic Development (PREPARED) Project along with partners in Uganda- Uganda Coalition for Sustainable Development (UCSD) and National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC)-Jinja and Iganga areas; launched 15 clubs of the Water Community Communication clubs (WACOCO).

Since the draft National Climate Change Bill, 2017 came out for public review at the end of July 2017, the Climate Change Department in collaboration with different stakeholders have held several meetings involving Government Departments and Agencies; Civil Society Organizations; Private sector; Members of Parliament through the Parliamentary Forum on Climate Change, among others

Uganda has already witnessed some of the negative effects of climate change. These include severe water shortages, increased incidence of drought, reduced food and cash crop
Sadly, Uganda still lacks a substantive law that deals with climate change.

A knowledge-sharing and networking regional workshop was held in Arusha –Tanzania from the 22nd to 23rd June 2017.

In Mityana district, central Uganda, Kikandwa Environmental Association - KEA is taking lead in improving livelihoods of the community through this approach. KEA addresses climate change impacts and vulnerabilities using different strategies and met hodologies such as information sharing through the community innovation resource center.

The Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) is one of the cornerstones of international climate policies as they include the targets and measures that each country has committed in the Paris Agreement to reduce Green House Gases (GHG) emissions.

A Project on Promoting the Implementation of the Paris Agreement in East Africa (PIPA) has been launched. The project focus is on pro-poor, low emission development will be implemented by Uganda Coalition for Sustainable Development,
